Top Contributor to the BPW/FL Breast Cancer Fund
BPW/FL President Christy Crump recognized BPW/Tallahassee as the top contributor to the BPW/FL Breast Cancer fund again this year. The award was announced at the State Conference on June 28.
Christy presented a certificate recognizing this achievement at today's Professional Development Luncheon. BPW/Tallahassee raised over $2,000 for the fund that awards $250 stipends to individuals facing breast cancer. Yolanda Miranda-Hill, Event Chair, accepted the certificate on behalf of BPW/Tallahassee.
Thank you to our sponsors, hosts, members and guests who helped to make this event successful. Your contributions make a huge difference in the lives of our scholarship recipients.
2014 Support the Girls Event Raises Over $2,000
Midtown was buzzing with excitement on May 23 as BPW’s Support the Girls attendees participate in the walkabout to view over two dozen decorated bras and vote for their favorites. Some BPW members boldly showed their support by wearing their bras OUTSIDE their clothes for the evening. The evening ended at the 5th Avenue Tap Room where emcee Amanda James encouraged the crowd to continue their donations in order to meet an anonymous matching gift challenge. Event Chair Yolanda Miranda-Hill presided over the awarding of door prizes and the announcement of the winning bras. Winning bras:
Winners: "Pink Shingles with Pink Panther to Fight Breast Cancer" by Tadlock Roofing and "Pink Passion for a Cure" by Christy Crump
Runner Ups: "The Tree of Life" by Cabello’s Hair & Nail Studio and "Sea Boobs by the Sea Shore" by Denise Haney
These bras will be sent to the BPW/Florida State Conference on June 27-29- to compete with others from around the state for top honors. BPW Tallahassee hopes to repeat our victories of years past and bring home top honors.
We raised over $2,000 for the Florida BPW Breast Cancer fund. The fund offers “no questions asked” scholarships for individuals with breast cancer. These scholarships can be used for anything that will help to improve he recipient’s quality of life. Tallahassee’s fund-raising efforts will provide eight scholarships in the coming year. Many thanks to our event sponsors listed below, business hosts, bra makers, volunteers and guests for making the 2014 Support the Girls event a great success.
Thank you to our Support The Girls sponsors!
